The Department of Anesthesia works dynamically with all other departments at Al Kindi Hospital with the aim of providing integrated services of preoperative anesthesia and pain management to patients of all ages, taking into account the patient’s health, medical conditions, prescribed medications, allergies and the nature of the surgery to which he or she will undergo in order to determine the drugs and method of anesthesia within the international healthcare standards.

In order to ensure the highest levels of safe care, the Anaesthesia Department of Al Kindi Hospital adheres to regulations established by the World Health Organization and the World Federation of Anaesthetists’ Associations. 



Patient assessment before anesthesia

The anesthesia team at Al Kindi Hospital conducts comprehensive preoperative tests, including identifying and discussing appropriate pain and medication methods, as well as discussing anesthesia methods with surgeons to ensure all health aspects.



Post-anesthesia

Anesthesia causes some minor side effects that disappear within one or two hours after surgery such as drowsiness and dizziness. There is a little chance that you will experience nausea or sore throat.

Our medical and nursing staff are ready at any time to help you if you have dizziness after the operation and provide you with the necessary medications to treat post-anesthesia symptoms.

Emergency care

The anaesthesia team at Al Kindi Hospital is doing their best to provide ongoing care for all emergencies. Our anesthesia department works with all our emergency departments in surgery and emergency to protect the patient.

Our most important objective is to provide timely care for all emergencies in order to reduce the incidence of complications by:

  • Anaesthesia for emergencies in the operating room.
  • Emergency anesthesia care outside the operating room.
  • CPR.

Anaesthesia Services

Anaesthetists cover anesthesia services for all patients undergoing various simple or complex operations in the following 24-hour specialties: dentistry, entrology, endoscopy, general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, urology, plastic surgery, gynecology and obstetrics.

Anaesthesia services include:

  • Clinical examination.
  • Develop a detailed plan for pain control.
  • Providing instructions for care before and after surgery.
  • Anaesthesia for delivery and cesarean sections.

  • Anesthesia and pain relief during delivery and giving birth

The anaesthesia team provides every effort to help the mother make her delivery journey painless, through a range of different methods, from palliative tablets to epidural anesthesia (back needle) to help deliver painlessly at the mother’s will and health reasons.

Pain is sedated during and after childbirth so that the mother feels comfortable throughout her time in the hospital.
