Diagnostic Radiology

The Department of Radiology at Al Kindi Hospital provides imaging and radiation MRI, Ultrasound, CT Scan, Mammogram diagnostic services through a variety of modern techniques in diagnostic radiology.

The department is equipped with high-quality radiography technology under the supervision of consultants and technicians with high expertise and skills.

Continuing the hospital’s mission to harness advanced patient comfort technologies, Dicom has been adopted to access radiation images and information by many users in multiple departments simultaneously, making it easier for consultation between medical staff in other departments and radiologists.

Appropriate treatment for an injury or disease depends on the appropriate and accurate diagnosis (Radiology) of the patient’s condition.

Patient comfort is important to us and is linked to the level of services we provide. We understand that many diagnostic procedures and their causes can be stressful for the patient, which is why specialists and our medical staff perform diagnostic tests (Radiology) with care and attention to the patient’s comfort, taking time to explain each procedure so you know what to expect at every step of your treatment journey, and encourage patients to ask questions if they have more questions about each procedure.

Diagnostic Radiology Unit Services

The Radiology Unit at Al Kindi Hospital has all modern radiology devices and diagnostics, and offers a full range of services 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

MRI is a diagnostic test that produces very clear images of the human body without using X-rays, and MRI scans are used to diagnose a wide range of conditions, from ligament rupture to tumors, and is particularly used to examine the brain and spinal cord.

Philips’ MRI device in the radiology department is one of the advanced MRI devices. This device is used to photograph all parts of the body without using X-rays to photograph the finer details with high accuracy. Some parts of the body are more photographed by resonance than others, such as the nervous system (brain, nerves, spinal cord and spine), as well as the bone system (bones, muscles and joints), and is used for the diagnosis of breast and prostate diseases.

With an MRI machine, strokes can be diagnosed a few hours after they occur and treated before they develop.

MRI features:

  • Suitable for people with narrow and closed space phobias.
  • The design of the device is wide for the comfort of patients, especially those with high weights.
  • Imaging arteries without the use of a colored substance for patients with kidney problems.

Computerized tomography Scan (CT scan)

The Department of Radiology CT is one of the most advanced and accurate forms of diagnostic imaging and provides the patient and doctor with important information about your overall health. During CT scans, computer-related X-rays are used to take pictures of the patient’s organs, bones and other body tissues, showing more detail than those shown in regular X-rays.

Philips Ingenuity CT Scanner has been chosen at Al Kindi Hospital as one of the newest CT scans in the region, with the ability to perform 128 sections per image.

The device also has the ability to accurately evaluate coronary arteries, through which CT biopsies can also be taken from blood vessels, and is also used to measure stomach size after bariatric surgery.

It is used to scan the abdomen, lung, heart, pelvis, and all blood vessels in the upper and lower extremities. The device can photograph the colon from the inside with high accuracy that provides the same results as endoscopy, and is a more comfortable and accurate alternative to endoscopy.

CT Scan Features:

  • – Scan the arteries of the heart during a single heartbeat.
  • – Rooms are widely equipped to ensure the comfort of the patient, especially those with heavy weights.
  • – Make multi-shaped and 3D images.
  • – High speed and image clarity, where the body is examined from neck to pelvis in less than a minute.

 CT scan procedures

  1. Depending on the area to be filmed, some CT scans require injecting or drinking a colored substance in the vein before filming to help your doctor see the area being examined in higher detail.
  2. Since metal objects can affect the image, do not wear clothes with metal pieces, and you may be asked to remove jewelry, glasses and any other tools that can obscure the images.
  3. You may be asked to refrain from eating for 3 hours before the examination as instructed by your doctor.
  4. You should inform your supervising doctor if there is any possibility that the patient is pregnant before a CT scan.

Ultrasonic Imaging (Ultrasound)

Ultrasound devices are used to examine various parts of the body, particularly the abdomen and pelvis, surface and deep tissues and blood vessels using doppler technology, through which arterial clots are also diagnosed.

Ultrasound This type of device is used in the diagnosis of gynecological conditions and obstetrics for uterine and ovary examination, as well as diagnosis of diseases of the urinary system, abdomen and pelvis as well as cancer detection.

Ultrasound does not emit any radiation, which is why it is commonly used to photograph pregnancy. The radiology department at Al Kindi Hospital includes a 4D ultrasound device, which is used to examine fetal safety and diagnose congenital fetal abnormalities.

Mammogram

The Department of Radiology Statistics show that one in eight women can develop breast cancer at some point in their lives, and the stage at which breast cancer is detected affects a woman’s chance of survival.

The mammogram unit was developed at Al Kindi Hospital for breast disease diagnosis and early detection of breast cancer.

Our Mammogram scans are characterized by accurate imaging, as well as the possibility of sampling in the case of suspected abnormal cells in the images. With this technique, breast cancer can be detected before any breast problem arises, as it can detect cancer early when it is small in size to start early treatment.

By providing women with the latest technology in mammography, Al Kindi Hospital hopes to increase the number of women in our society who routinely perform the examination, and we advise all women after the age of 40 to perform mammograms every two years.

Dental Imaging (Panorama)

Panorama imaging is performed for various dental procedures and dental implants, helping to fully plan dental implants before starting.

Mobile Radiologists (Portable)

Mobile radiology devices are used in cases where the patient cannot move or special cases that require a quick x-ray of the patient in the operating room.

Dicom System

The radiology department at Al Kindi Hospital has a Dicom long-term x-ray system, where the devices in the department are connected to the system so that the doctor can see the images directly through their screens, as well as the internal departments of the hospital. This system is used for remote diagnosis and comparison of results over time, and radiation images appear in the form of digital or printed images on x-ray films when requested by your doctor or patient.
