The birth of a child is a wonderful and very complex process, and the most beautiful thing is to meet this child after 9 months of waiting. When a child comes out into our world, many physical changes occur to the child, leaving the uterus means that the child can no longer rely on the mother’s blood supply and placenta to perform important body functions.<\/span><\/p>\n

In order to provide the best integrated maternal and child health care from the beginning of the pregnancy journey to post-natal, the Neonatal and Preterm Infant Unit was established and equipped with all the necessary modern equipment, and the department has excellent medical and nursing staff with expertise in neonatal care.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Neonatal and Preterm Infants Section is an important department at Al Kindi Hospital, which provides medical and nursing care to newborns, children and preterm infants born in the 24th week of pregnancy who require 24-hour special care.<\/span><\/p>\n

The journey of welcoming the baby begins from the preparation of the delivery room with the aim of examining the pregnant mother in the last days of pregnancy, where the maternity department is located near the neonatal unit equipped with dozens of modern baby incubators.<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Reception of newborns in the delivery room by pediatricians and department nurses.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Comprehensive screening of newborns by paediatricians to detect any organic diseases or congenital abnormalities.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Monitoring the child’s vital signs periodically and monitoring his or her health.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Giving advice to the mother in dealing with her child, encouraging her to breastfeed and providing her with psychological support.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Neonatal intensive care unit for newborns<\/b><\/h2>\n

    The Neonatal intensive care unit is a separate unit from the rest of the sections to maintain the highest degree of sterilization within the section due to the sensitivity of the cases received, and is located next to the maternity section.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The Neonatal intensive care unit is equipped with modern incubators to receive births that are incomplete in growth or in need of temporary monitoring or emergency treatment, as well as oxygen monitors, neonatal resuscitation and heating devices and phototherapy devices.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The\u00a0 Neonatal intensive care Unit cooperates in connection with a number of internal and external medical agencies, including with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Department of Surgery, the Emergency Department and operating theatres.<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Premature births of 25 weeks and more, and subsequent complications such as low weight and incomplete lung growth.<\/span><\/li>\n

      The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides the following services:<\/b><\/h3>\n

      \u00a0Infant and Preterm Infant Clinic: A clinic specializing in the care of premature babies with a pregnancy of up to 30 weeks or less, we are working to identify and deal with unstable heart and circulatory conditions, as well as digestive problems, and to care for newborns who have undergone surgery. The unit also includes a group of medical staff with high experience in childcare.<\/span><\/p>\n

            Focused phototherapy device<\/b><\/h3>\n

            The focused phototherapy device is one of the most effective devices that is used in the treatment of severe cases of jaundice in newborns in order to prevent blood change.<\/span><\/p>\n

            The neonatal and preterm infant department is staffed by a team of doctors, nurses and healthcare providers with high experience in pediatric medical care, who are available 24 hours a day to provide your child with the best care and attention from the moment he sees the light and begins life.<\/span><\/p>\n

            In the neonatal and preterm unit, we aim to provide the highest standards of care and safety in accordance with local and international regulations and standards. In order to achieve our goal, we have implemented a comprehensive quality assurance system that includes questionnaires to measure the satisfaction of patients filled by their parents, as well as a system for assessing a child’s condition and when he or she is allowed to leave, and family education programmes for the post-hospital treatment period.<\/span><\/p>\n
